Our foundry masters the challenge of thin-walled grey cast iron – delivering strength, precision, and efficiency where others cannot.
The cast iron production process begins with our furnaces. Powered with electricity, oxygen, and natural gas, fired up to 1,500°C to melt our raw materials down into a perfectly balanced mix for cast iron.
We have 4 oxygen/natural gas rotary furnaces, each with a melting capacity of 20 tonnes/2.5 hours. 1 induction holding furnace with a capacity of 7 tonnes. 1 Disamatic 270A – with a maximum of 350 moulds/h, suitable for moulds up to 950 × 700 × 650 mm. We use 0.16 mm-diameter green sand for our moulds. Our Disamatic moulding line has its own pouring machine and individual laser-controlled stopper rod system.
All toolings and jigs created by Dovre are engineered by our highly experienced specialists combined with your input.
With digital technology and 3D design programs, your ideas take shape in a digital model. Afterwards, our milling machines create your aluminium tooling with ultimate precision.
Across all grades, grey cast iron offers a unique advantage: vibration damping. This makes it indispensable in applications where stability, reduced noise, and long service life are key.
Characteristics: Excellent vibration damping, good machinability, cost-effective.
Typical applications:
Machine tool bases and frames (noise and vibration reduction)
Pump housings and covers (static applications)
Counterweights (machinery, elevators)
Manhole covers and gratings (durable and economical)
Characteristics: Balanced strength and machinability, reliable under moderate loads.
Typical applications:
Engine blocks and cylinder heads (thermal conductivity, stability)
Brake drums and discs (resistance to thermal/mechanical stress)
Transmission housings (gearboxes, powertrain components)
Pipe fittings and valves (durability at low cost)
Characteristics: High strength, wear resistance, suitable for demanding applications.
Typical applications:
Heavy-duty engine parts (high mechanical load resistance)
Press bodies and frames (stiffness and rigidity)
Hydraulic and pneumatic cylinders (withstands internal pressure)

Reliable, large-scale melting operations to keep production flowing. 4 rotary furnaces (oxygen/natural gas) – 20 tonnes every 2.5 hours 1 induction holding furnace – 7 tonnes capacity
We are committed to the future of foundry work. In 2027/2028, our furnaces will be upgraded to new induction ovens — boosting efficiency while reducing drastically our environmental footprint.
From small runs to large-scale series, we adapt to your needs. Every casting is produced with the same focus on precision, reliability, and customer requirements.
Our experienced team combines deep knowledge of cast iron with hands-on expertise. We involve customers in the engineering process, ensuring every decision leads to stronger, more reliable products.
Each casting is thoroughly tested for:
If it does not meet our standards, it does not leave our factory.
Iron that looks as good as it performs. We deliver castings with precise geometry and uniform, visible-grade surfaces. For components that don’t just function but also represent your product to the outside world.
We use 3D scanning to compare castings against the original CAD models and technical drawings, guaranteeing precision down to the smallest detail.
On request, we provide detailed inspection reports for full transparency and traceability.
Using advanced scanning, we reproduce old castings as precise 3D models for repair, reproduction, or optimization.
We perform tensile strength tests to confirm material performance and reliability, ensuring every casting can withstand its intended use.
